Hello everyone! I am finally back from a longish break of blog posting. Do you ever just need to step back for a bit? Now I'm feeling refreshed and ready to get back into the swing of things!

This week I am sharing a fantastic poetry postcard that I got from Emily B., who is in 5th grade. Thank you, Emily, for sharing your poetry talent, and thank you to Jone MacCulloch, the amazing media specialist at Silver Star Elementary, for organizing the postcard project. It was a real treat to open the mailbox and see the poem.

I love the imagery of the poem. I can totally see the crocodile sneaking up on the crocodile. And I love her artwork on the postcard. I especially like how she added the lion's shadow on the savanna. So great.

This week, the poetry round up is over at Jama's Alphabet Soup, so be sure to check it out. And make sure to stop back next week, because I'll be hosting the round up!

  3. Lovely poem and postcard except for our dear zebra–seems it landed in the right hands with your interests in animals! Thanks for sharing it, and happy to have you back

  4. Wow, those few words show the world of animals beautifully. It is terrific to find one of Jone's student's cards in the mail.

  5. Short and swe... no, not sweet, more like deadly. But it makes for a great poem! Glad you're feeling refreshed, Rebecca!

  7. Hi Rebecca, oh YES I do know the need to take a step back. I ducked out of PF last week because I couldn't handle the reading that goes along with posting. But, I'm back fresh as a daisy this week and already have an idea for next week. Oh, that Emily got right to the point faster than you can spell s-w-a-l-l-o-w. LOL. I love that so many adult poets from our PF group foster a love for words and poems and writing in our young people. Makes me so happy to see the craft continue. Have a great week.

  8. I was wondering why I did not hear from you, Rebecca. I placed your husband's dinosaur in my Winter Wonderland Gallery. Did you see it? Emily has a good imagination and a flair for details (shadow). If you are in for a challenge, I posted the invitiation to my Sense-sational Spring Gallery. Maybe your husband can create again.
