Hurricane Irma has come and gone. We were lucky and the storm took a sudden turn East about 30 miles south of us. We didn't even lose power--which was a disappointment to my 7yo daughter. There are still some in my town that do not have power. No AC in Florida is no bueno.

Because of the storm, my daughter and husband won't be going back to classes until this coming Monday. While we have all enjoyed the mini vacation, it will be nice to get back to our normal routine.

I've been so frazzled, I haven't had much time to do any writing this week, so I decided to play with Michelle's Peace Party challenge. It was a fun little exercise. Thanks, Michelle!

  1. These are fabulous, Rebecca! I'm amazed you came up with so many in so little time. (They're more challenging than they look!) Glad to hear you got through Irma okay. We were similarly lucky—among the 10% in Alachua County that never even lost power. Phone service, yes, we lost that, but overall we were truly blessed.

    1. I am glad that you weathered the storm well. Some places really got slammed. And thanks for the 5 word Peace Challenge. I had fun with it.

  2. Glad you are safe from the winds and rain this week. Irma kept everyone on their toes with her twists and turns across the state and seas. I love your collections of five words for peace. Each one captures a facet of peace.

  3. Happy to hear that you have good news. Rebecca. Your peace poems encompass all that is needed. Now if only everyone will listen! I love the first one, remember well that satisfying feeling that everyone is okay, at home, sleeping tight!

    1. When I sat down to write the 1st little ditty, I had just got the kids in bed after a hectic day. I was certainly glad for a few moments of peace and quiet! :)

  4. I like snow days for their mini-break quality, but they are less fun when the power is out. I'm glad you came through the hurricane well. Amazing peaceful words. My favorite is when the kids are in bed. ;-)

    1. It will be interesting when they make up the hurricane days. I know they have a few built in, but the kids were out for over a week!

  5. I am so glad to hear you fared well, Rebecca. I was a little concerned, when I saw how it was tracking, based on your post last week.

  6. SO glad to hear you and yours are okay! I was glued to cell phones and The Weather Channel all weekend, since all my peeps are in Florida, and our kids and my hubby's family are in North Ga. and a little beyond. Irma brought way too much water here to coastal SC, though we didn't deal with the winds you had! All my folks have power back as of Friday. Whew!

    1. PS - forgot to include how struck I was by your "Empathy" poem when I read it yesterday at Michelle's - thanks for sharing all!

    2. Thanks! Yeah, we were really fortunate that it turned at the last moment. It certainly was a crazy couple of days.
